CONSTITUTION OF MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT

June 2009

Article I - Name

The name of this organization shall be MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT.

MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT does not discriminate with regard to race, color, marital status, age, creed, national origin, lawful political affiliation, labor organization membership, physical handicap or sex.

Members of MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT assume all personal liability for any and all civil action taken against them.  Members release from any and all claims, demands, actions, or causes of action the MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT, its advisors, officers, board members, and club/organization members.  By accepting these by-laws, you accept waiver of liability.

As this is a Special Interest Group, in accordance with BUPERSINST 1710.11c, para. 303 c., MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT is covered under the NAVPERSCOM (PERS-65) self-insurance program for MWR NAFIs. 

Article II - Purpose

For the purposes of this document, theatrical genres are defined as:

Dramatic Theater:
A prose or verse composition, that is intended for representation by actors impersonating the characters and performing the dialogue and action. For the purposes of this document, this refers specifically to non-musical theater, including both comedies and dramas.

Musical Theater:
A play that has dialogue interspersed with songs and/or dances.
The purpose of this organization shall be to provide an outlet for the creative expressions of our military and civilian community members and to serve as a cultural asset through the performance and promotion of English-speaking musical and dramatic performances for the military and civilian community in the greater Naples area.

Article III - Membership

A.  Qualifications of Members

In accordance with BUPERSINST 1710.00c sections 604 and 605, membership is limited to authorized MWR patrons.

B.  Assessments and Dues

No dues are required to maintain membership in MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT.

Article IV - Officers

Duties and Responsibilities

1.  Director of Operations is responsible for the overall health and prosperity of the organization.  May act as the central point of contact for the organization and speak on behalf of all members

2.  Director of Musical Theater shall be responsible for the preparation, planning, and execution of delivering value to Naples MWR in the form of theatrical events in the genre of MUSICAL THEATER.

3.  Director of Dramatic Theater shall be responsible for the preparation, planning, and execution of delivering value to Naples MWR in the form of theatrical events in the genre of DRAMATIC THEATER.

Article V - Meetings

Meetings are held at the discretion of the Board of Directors.  Special meetings such as those dedicated to a specific production are called by the Board of Directors, and members are notified of these meetings via email.

Article VI - Decision Making Process

Decision making shall be the responsibility of the Board of Directors.

Article VII - Disbursal of Assets

Should the club disband, the executive board shall disburse the assets to MWR.

Meeting Dates, Times and Locations

Meetings are conducted at the discretion of the MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT Board of Directors at a location determined by the Board of Directors.


Fund Raising Activities Planned

MAINSTAGE ENTERTAINMENT raises funds through ticket sales for theater performances.  All funds raised are used for future productions for items such as scripts, royalty fees, set materials, construction, props, tickets, programs, and promotional materials.
